Less features, more money out of your wallet.
The main changes from the 4XL to this: The 4XL worked on a network if you got the very inexpensive network adapter (called a server but it cost next to nothing) that way everybody in our office was able to use the label printer. Now everybody must buy their own. That's not value for the customer Dymo! Second change, the 4XL worked on anybody's generic 4" x 6" labels. The 5XL's work only with Dymo's which cost 10x more than anybody else's and don't believe that baloney about needing Dymo quality. Its a white paper label with an adhesive backing. I've used lots of cheap knock offs and saved huge money for years - now this big money grab. This is a downgrade, straight up.

Does Not Accept Non-Dymo Labels
I am extremely dissatisfied with this product I purchased it on Amazon and upon setting it up I leaned that 3rd party labels can not be printed with it because of a new chip "feature". This means that for my small business I would have to through away the 10+ rolls of labels that I already own and pay $2/roll for and by all new Dymo labels for over $8/roll. This is almost unbelievable to me that Dymo thinks this is what the consumer whats. Needless to say I will be returning this and switching to another brand of printer from now on!

Junk!!!
Is there a negative star I can give?!? I've been through 3 of these. The first time it just quit working, wouldn't turn on. I chalked it up to the fact we've had it for a few years and we use it a lot, just bought a new one. Next one started registering a paper jam when there was no jam. Called the help line, they insisted there Must be a jam although there wasn't. They were ZERO help. Out of frustration I threw the printer away and got a different one. Now this one, less than 1 year old and it's doing the same, registering a paper jam. I'm Done. Come pick up your printer.

Don't buy this product : look for another brand!!!
Doesn't accept original dymo labels we have due an RFID/NFC tag missing, yes we kwow after reading all the bad reviews there is a exchange program costing time and emailing, etc. I'm not going waste time on this and return the printer. While a bought a lot of Dymo products for my company, this is the last item I bought from Dymo. I don't accept the new policy that we have to buy the DYMO labels with tags. Imagine a car manu facturer that say that you have to use their fuel otherwise the car won't ride. I think Dymo is going to change their minds. The customer is always right. Of course I will receive the standard copy paste message : "We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused, blablabla"...

I got this labelwriter 5XL This machine prints very high-quality labels, it prints out fast, and then you just tear them off of the machine. They are extremely easy to peel off of the backing and the adhesive is very nice. It is amazing. Simple easy to set up and use, labels are clear, read the specs, it can do many things and it is very intuitive, fast, and can swap label rolls from one format to another in seconds.You can print precise label quantities with ease. Set up was a breeze- you first need to download the software from the quick start guide, you then connect the power to your label writer, then plug it into your computer to get started. From there, the software will walk you through everything you need to know. Highly recommend

Easy setup, can’t register
We were hoping to use this to create shipping labels to return parts easier.
From the start I was impressed by how easy it was to un box and set up. The instructions are simple and easy to understand.
Downloading the required applications on the computer was a breeze.
Registering the product was next to impossible. If you can’t register you can’t set up the printer to the program on the computer. The webpage continues to say it’s unavailable. For days.
From what I can tell just practicing on the program, it will be incredibly easy to type up labels, with different options of fonts, styles, etc.
if I could register it, I’m sure my review would be 4-5 stars.

READ THE DETAILS
Waste of space. I previously owned a Dymo 4 and it died after 3 years. I purchased the new 5xl through Newegg October. I hate it, it never prints causing me to use my laser printer for shipping. I use a ton of tape. I also had to get rid of 8 rolls of labels because of the chip feature. You don't state that "only" your labels can be used. I feel that since these machines have a short lifespan we should be able to use a cheaper label. Also, at least sell something that prints. I get error label jam every time I try to print something and there is no jam. Frustrating!! I am looking into getting a different shipping printer as soon as I'm done posting this review. $218.00 down the drain, but the headaches from frustration are worse than me spending a couple of hundreds dollars for something that WILL work. Your support team was no help!

Address labels in an instant
This Dymo Label writer is a dream come true for creating address labels. From start to finish, there’s no mess or fuss, and the result I have is an awesome set of address labels. Out of the box, the label maker is ‘plug and play’ ready to get started; the software that comes with it was easy to download and is easy to use navigate. I really like that there’s no ink or toner to worry about, and the cartridges are easy to replace. The smart shape and design of the label maker allows for space saving on my desk. The possibilities are endless with printing on the Dymo label maker; it’s such a gem and makes printing labels super quick and easy.
