Rated 1 out of 5 by from GREEDY - GREEDY - GREEDY! After 5 years of using our 450 turbo printer, we decided to add a new printer, and not needing to read the reviews because we thought we knew what a great product the Dymos were, we just purchased a 550 turbo online. WHAT A MISTAKE! We had over 20 rolls of old labels that won't work in the new machine, which Dymo will only replace 3. And the COST!!!! We were purchasing a really good quality third party label for $7 / roll, and with the new monopoly system, the same size labels are costing us $29.59 at staples - almost 4 TIMES more - and that's when they are available!!!!! Now I can't even afford to have my part time help print labels for new products, because if they make a mistake, I am just throwing money out the door. You couldn't just create a good product for a reasonable price, and be satisfied with a nice profit? You should be ashamed!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Gift Shop Mess I wrap a lot of gifts and constantly remove price labels when preparing the gift. The label leaves a tacky residue on hang tags and merchandise. This is not the right label for my business.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DRM for Paper is a scam! DRM for paper products is the biggest scam. There is no reason to block the use of third party label other than greed. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Prints clean, sticks well I work at a library and use these print spine labels for books. They work great, they print nice and neatly (and fast) with the LabelWriter 550 Turbo, they're quick easy to load and re-load, and the interface for the Dymo allows me to get pretty granular in how much I customize them compared to other labels/ label makers so I can really make the most of their small size. They're just paper labels, so they're not water proof or anything, but they are pretty durable for paper labels. We put cover them with label lock or clear book tape when we put them on book spine to seal them in better, so that they don't get ripped or smudged away by all of the hands that touch it. The adhesive is strong enough to stick to even the older books with cloth bindings that seem to have dust permanently embedded into them. They're not really meant to be removable, they're meant to stay stuck, and they do that very well. The only time I can’t get them to stick is with metallic clothbound books, (but that’s because they’re glossy and textured, and nothing really stick to them) and when I don’t have adequate coverage to give the adhesive a chance. For example, if I place a label so that the very edge of it wraps around the corner of a book, that edge of the label pops up because it’s not wrapped around the corner enough to give the adhesive a real surface to stick to. The only downside is that the way they are packaged, there’s a small strip of a sticker to hold the roll closed. Since these labels are on the smaller side, it means that the end of the roll gets taped down to the fifth or sixth label. THAT sticker leaves a sticky residue on the label which jams the printer. So if you want to avoid getting the inner workings of your printer all gummed up, you have to make sure not to send that gunky label through it, which basically means you have to tear off the first six labels or so. And six labels doesn’t seem like a lot on a roll of 750, but at almost $20 a pop, I expect to be able to use every label on the roll.
